The Pittsburgh Panthers have hired Mike Haywood to be their next head coach, replacing Dave Wannstedt.
Haywood, the head coach at Miami (OH), has agreed to a five-year contact with the school. Financial terms were not released.
The head coach lead the Redhawks to a bowl game just one season after finishing with only one victory.
Haywood becomes the first African-American head coach in football or basketball in the history of Pittsburgh athletics. (Read More…)

Pittsburgh Panthers head coach Dave Wannstedt has resigned from his position after six years at the school.
Wannstedt resigned under pressure from the school, though he will remain as a special assistant to the athletic director.
The Panthers came into the season as heavy favorites to win the Big East and were even a darkhorse national title contender.
Instead, Pittsburgh went just 7-5, fell short of the Big East title and ended up in the Compass Bowl. (Read More…)
